Located in the Pacific Ocean, Japan consists of four main island(Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu) and many smaller island. The population is about 125 million and has thousands of cities. The major cities have a high population density with 11 cities containing over one million residents. The climate varies from one region to region. Japan has four seasons. Spring months are March, April, and May. Summer months are June, July, and August. Autumn months are September, October, and November. Winter months are December, January, and February. Summer is usually hot and humid. During the winter, it snows a lot on the Sea of Japan side, and it is dry on the Pacific Ocean side.
